Congresswoman Hartzler reminds military academy applicants deadline to submit paperwork is rapidly approaching

Congresswoman Vicky Hartzler (MO-4) reminds Fourth District students interested in attending one of the U.S. Service Academies that the time to submit the necessary paperwork is running out. The deadline for applying is Tuesday, October 15, 2013.

“I am privileged to have the honor of nominating candidates to the Service Academies,” said Hartzler. “Each application will be carefully considered with several factors taken into account. They include the information submitted with the application package and an interview with my Adacemy Nominations Board.”

“Those chosen as nominees will be notified near the end of the year,” continued Hartzler. “The final decisions will then be made by each individual Service Academy, followed by notifications in the spring.”

Eligibility rules require that each applicant be a U.S. citizen at least 17 years old and not yet 23 years of age on July 1, 2013 (25 years of age for the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy), be unmarried and without legal obligation to support children or other dependants. Furthermore, each candidate chosen by Congresswoman Hartzler must reside within Missouri’s Fourth Congressional District. Finally, each candidate will have to meet the medical, physical, and academic requirements of the selected Academy.

Candidates interested in applying for nomination to a Service Academy are asked to send their applications to: Office of Congresswoman Vicky Hartzler, Attn: Donna Spickert, 2415 Carter Lane, Suite 4, Columbia, Missouri 65201.
