Hartzler encourages aspiring young artists to enter Congressional Art Competition

Mar 20, 2013

Congresswoman Vicky Hartzler (MO-4) is inviting Fourth Congressional District high school students to be part of a wonderful opportunity to showcase their artistic talents. The 2013 Congressional Art Competition is a chance for aspiring young artists to see their artwork displayed at the U.S. Capitol in Washington.

“This competition provides a great opportunity to showcase the artistic talents of our local students,” said Hartzler, a former family and consumer sciences teacher. “The winning entry, which will hang in the Capitol for one year, will join other works of art from Congressional districts around the country.”

“I am also looking forward to meeting the winning artist,” added Hartzler. “That winner will be awarded round-trip airfare to Washington, D.C. and will be invited to attend a ceremony to unveil the winning artwork from across the nation.”

Students must enter an original piece no larger than 28” X 28” X4” (28 inches high, 28 inches wide, and 4 inches deep) including the frame. It can be a painting, drawing, collage, print, computer generated design or photograph. All framed entries and release forms must be delivered to Congresswoman Hartzler’s Columbia District Office at 2415 Carter Lane, Suite 4, Columbia, MO by 5:00 PM on Wednesday, April 17, 2013. The winner will be notified by May 3, 2013.
