Hartzler Announces Availability of USDA Grants for Urban Agriculture and Innovative Production
HARRISONVILLE, MO - Congresswoman Vicky Hartzler (MO-4) has announced the US Department of Agriculture (USDA) new grant program through its new Office of Urban Agriculture and Innovative Production. These grants, totaling $3-million, will support the development of urban agriculture and innovative production projects through Planning Projects and Implementation Projects.
$1-million of this grant money will go toward Planning Projects that initiate or expand efforts of farmers, gardeners, schools, and other stakeholders in urban areas and suburbs. These projects could involve food access, education, and start-up costs for new farmers, and development of policies related to needs of urban production.
A total of $2-million will be made available for Implementation Projects that accelerate existing and emerging models of urban, indoor, and other agricultural practices to improve local food access and support infrastructure needs for urban farming policy implementation.
USDA will accept applications on Grants.gov until midnight July 6, 2020.
