Hartzler Praises HHS Pursuit of Ethical Fetal Tissue Research
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congresswoman Vicky Hartzler (MO-04) today made the following statement about the announcement by the U.S. Department of Health & Human Services (HHS) that it will end funding for internal research that uses the body parts of aborted babies and apply a rigorous ethical review process to outside research funded by the Department:
“I welcome today’s HHS announcement promoting ethical fetal tissue research and drawing a line in the sand on fueling the abortion industry’s trafficking of baby body parts. I am grateful to President Trump and Secretary Azar for the decision to not renew a multi-million dollar University of California, San Francisco contract, and to lead the way in developing ethical NIH fetal tissue research. Ethical scientific practices are paramount to discovery, but they should never include the harvesting of developing baby hearts, eyes, livers and brains following elective abortions.”
