Hartzler takes helm of House Values Action Team

January 11, 2017
Press Release

WASHINGTON—Rep. Vicky Hartzler (R-Mo.) will lead the House Vales Action Team in the 115th Congress.

“It is an honor to lead a team of such dedicated advocates for family, faith, and freedom,” Hartzler said. “It is also an honor to carry on Representative Pitts’ rich legacy of fighting for the traditional values we hold dear. I look forward to working with this fantastic team to promote faith, protect life, and preserve our Constitutional freedom of religion.”

Hartzler, a member of the Values Action Team since coming to Congress in 2010, will Chair the group with Reps. Robert Aderholt (R-Ala.), Randy Hultgren (R-Ill.), and Jody Hice (R-Ga.) serving as Co-Chairmen. She takes over the chairmanship after Rep. Joseph Pitts (R-Penn.) retired from Congress, ending his 20-year career representing Pennsylvanians in Washington. He chaired the group since its creation in 1998.

The Values Action Team is a group of members dedicated to advancing policy that promotes traditional values by building and strengthening coalitions with like-minded citizen groups and amplifying their voices to achieve common goals. The group had over 70 members in the 114th Congress, a number Hartzler is keen to expand.

“We have a great opportunity this Congress to right past wrongs and advance solid policies based on strong, conservative, traditional values,” Hartzler stated. “I look forward to working with my colleagues and people from across America to rebuild and reinforce the foundational values of our great nation.”

To help with the effort, Hartzler has tapped Katie Doherty to serve as the Executive Director of the Values Action team. Katie brings a wealth of knowledge, relationships, and expertise to the team, having served as a legislative assistant for two active Values Action Team members, Reps. Chris Smith (R- N.J.) and John Fleming (R-La.). Most recently, she served as Fleming’s Legislative Director.

In addition to the Values Action Team, Hartzler serves on the House Armed Services and Agriculture Committees. She represents Missouri’s Fourth Congressional District.
