Hartzler Votes to Reopen Government

January 22, 2018
Press Release

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congresswoman Vicky Hartzler (MO-04) today voted for the second time to fund the government and keep it operational. The continuing resolution which passed the House and Senate opens the government, reauthorizes the Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP) and funds our military. This agreement ends a three-day government shutdown.

“For the second time in four days I voted for a continuing resolution which funds the government, reauthorizes the Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP) and provides for our military. Finally, after a three-day government shutdown, Democrats joined us and provided the necessary votes to end this senseless standoff.  It is unconscionable that Senate Democrats would create a false deadline and crisis over an issue that isn’t related to the budget and prevent our men and women in uniform from getting paid.

“The American people deserve better. I am hopeful that we will be able to reach, in a bipartisan manner, a final resolution in the coming weeks that is reflective of the priorities of the American people.”
