Congresswoman Vicky Hartzler (MO-4), a member of the U.S. House Armed Services Committee, has secured the three Armed Services subcommittee assignments she had requested: the Subcommittee on Tactical Air and Land Forces, the Subcommittee on Readiness, and the Subcommittee on Military Personnel.

"It is important that the 4th Congressional District be represented on these subcommittees," said Hartzler. "All Army and Air Force acquisition programs are dealt with through the Subcommittee on Tactical and Land Forces. What goes on in these meetings is critical to both Fort Leonard Wood and Whiteman Air Force Base. The Subcommittee on Readiness addresses military readiness, training, and logistics as well as military construction, installations, and family housing issues. The Subcommittee on Military Personnel deals with all issues relating to pay, Tricare, and military voting."

"All of these issues are priorities of the 4th Congressional District and they are priorities of mine," added Hartzler. "Whether it be ensuring our troops have the best training and facilities possible or that their voices be heard on Election Day, every issue is vital. An example is the issue of military voting. In the last election we heard how many of the brave men and women serving our country abroad found it difficult to cast their votes and to have those votes counted once they were cast," said Hartzler. "This is unconscionable! As a member of this subcommittee I look forward to speaking out on behalf of members of the military who vote by absentee ballot so they get their ballots in plenty of time to have them returned and counted. They deserve no less."

Congresswoman Vicky Hartzler was elected to the U.S. Congress on November 2, 2010. She is a member of the House Armed Services Committee and the House Agriculture Committee.
