Congresswoman Hartzler speaks at March for Life rally, meets Missouri pro-lifers in Washington, D.C.
Pro-life Congresswoman Vicky Hartzler (MO-4) has marked the anniversary of the landmark Roe v. Wade abortion case by joining fellow pro-lifers who had ventured to Washington, D.C. to take part in the 38th Annual March for Life. She met with Concerned Women for America to update efforts to de-fund Planned Parenthood before joining about 200 Missourians at a pro-life event known as the Missouri Big Meeting.
"It does my heart good to see so many Missourians standing up for life," said Hartzler following the Missouri Big Meeting coordinated by Missouri Right to Life and the Missouri Life Caravan. "My pro-life views were already known to many of the good citizens attending the meeting, but I had the opportunity to tell those who were not familiar with my position that I stand for the protection of innocent lives - both the born and the unborn. I also informed the group of our efforts to de-fund Planned Parenthood, which performs abortions after receiving taxpayer dollars. It is bad enough that this organization is involved in the heinous act of providing abortions, but it rubs salt in the wounds for pro-lifers to see their tax dollars being delivered to Planned Parenthood. Government should, under no circumstances, be spending money for abortions!"
Following the meeting, Congresswoman Hartzler addressed tens of thousands of pro-life supporters who had gathered on the National Mall to mark the grim anniversary of the U.S. Supreme Court decision to make the right to terminate a pregnancy the law of the land.
Congresswoman Vicky Hartzler was elected to the U.S. Congress on November 2, 2010. She is a member of the House Armed Services Committee and the House Agriculture Committee.
