Hartzler reminds military academy applicants deadline is approaching to submit paperwork
Fourth Congressional District residents interested in attending one of the U.S. service academies are reminded that time to submit the application paperwork is running out. The deadline is October 28, 2011, with no new applications accepted after that date.
“I am privileged to have the responsibility of nominating candidates to the service academies,” said Hartzler. “Several factors are taken into account as the applications are considered. They include the information submitted with the application package and an interview with my Academy Nominations Board.”
“Those chosen as nominees will be notified sometime this fall,” added Hartzler. “The final decision then rests with the individual service academies, which will make decisions and notifications by the spring.”
Eligibility rules require that each applicant be a U.S. citizen, be at least 17 years old and not yet 23 years old on July 1 of 2012 (25 years old for the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy), be unmarried, not pregnant, and without legal obligation to support children or other dependents, must reside within Missouri’s Fourth Congressional District, and will have to meet the medical, physical and academic requirements of the academy.
Young leaders interested in applying for nomination to a service academy are asked to send their applications to: Office of Congresswoman Vicky Hartzler, Attn: Donna Spickert, 2409 Hyde Park, Jefferson City, MO 65109.
